Our new baby, Claire Natalie Crawford, was born June 1, 2011 at 5:52pm.

She was 8 lbs 6 oz, and 20.5" long.

When we left the hospital two days later, she had gone down to 7 lbs 13 oz, which is normal for newborn babies.

At her first doctors appointment, 5 days after she was born, she was back up to her birth weight.

At her two week appointment, she weighed 9 lbs and had grown an inch!

We had her two month appointment last Friday, and she weighed in at a whopping 12 lbs 11oz and was 24 1/2" long, which put her in the 90th percentile for weight and 95th percentile for height! That means she is longer than 95% of babiesher age.

Our little girl is such a good baby. She hardly cries, is a good eater, and sleeps very well at night. She's such a happy little girl!

Today, I put Aidan down for his nap. A few minutes later, he woke up and opened the door to his room. I went and asked him if he was okay. He replied, "There's something happening to me and I don't understand." Huh???

Earlier today, he said he was digging in the dirt for his "compost peep."

A week ago, Aidan and I were driving. He said, "We are going really, really fast!" I said, "Like a rocket?" He responded, "No, not that fast."

Where does he get these sayings??

Pizza Night

We've had homemade pizza night a few times now, and Aidan is really starting to get the hang of it. He rolls out the dough, spreads on the sauce, sprinkles on some cheese, then adds the toppings.

So last week when we had pizza night, Aidan made his very own signature pizza: olive.

Summer is here!

Summertime has arrived in Sacramento, and we're taking full advantage of the weather by being outside all the time. If we're not in the backyard, we're in the front yard. If we're not in the front yard, we're at the park. If we're not doing any of these, it must be nap time!

Aidan loves to be outside. He decided recently that it's really fun to roll the suitcase around in the driveway, and one day I guess he needed a break from all the hard work. He plopped right down on the suitcase and lounged for awhile.

As you can see, we've already got the lawn chairs in prime position for our outdoor enjoyment.

We went up to El Dorado Hills a couple weeks ago to play at a super fun water park with our friends Kelly, Ethan and Emily. Here is Aidan, modeling his swimwear. He didn't actually go in the water that day, but still had a blast playing at the regular (non-water) park.

Aidan picked up one of Ben's hats and put it on, so I had to take a picture!

It's easy to see why summer is my favorite time of the year!

Arrr, matey!

Aidan got an owie on his foot today, and asked for a bandaid. After I put it on, he informed me that he was now a pirate.

Apparently bandaids make you a pirate!

The past few months

The past few months have flown by in about 10 minutes, or so it seems. Life has gotten crazier since we moved back to Sacramento, and we are busy bees!

Aidan is now 2 years and 4 months old, and can do just about anything he wants to (and everything he's not supposed to!) Just this morning, Ben discovered Aidan in our pantry eating chocolate chips off the floor. He dropped an open bag, and they spilled everywhere. He's a sneaky guy - he closed the door so we wouldn't know what he was up to! Ben walked in and Aidan said, "Look at this great big mess!" So Ben cleaned up the choc chips and threw them in the trash can. I later discovered Aidan eating the chocolate chips out of the trash can (they were in the chocolate chip bag, but still). I guess he really, really, really wanted some chocolate! At least he was polite and offered me some.

Now that he's two, Aidan can run, jump, climb anything, figure out how to open stuff, turn on the xbox and put a dvd in, push the dining room chairs around to get to high places, open doors, and generally be very helpful. He can say any word you throw at him, and he has a very good memory. It's fun to have a full-on conversation with him. I ask him what he wants to do, what he wants for dinner, or where he wants to go and he will give me an answer. It's pretty amazing communicating with such a little person!
