Two Months Old

April 11, 2008 - Today Aidan is two months old, and lots of things have changed since the last update.  My favorite new thing is he has started smiling.  Nothing makes a rough night worth it more than to wake up in the morning and see a big smile!  He also has started making new noises (besides crying).  He oohs and aahs all the time now, especially in the morning.

Aidan is growing like crazy!  He is already 12 ½ pounds.  He’s starting to outgrow his 3 month old clothes; he is too long for them.  Ben swears he will be the next Shaq!  I say as long as he’s smarter, that will be fine.  We have lots of nicknames for him, like “Frank the Tank” and “Little Chunk”, and Ben likes to call him Jabba the Hut (but that’s not my favorite).

Aidan still isn’t sleeping through the night, but he’s come up with a schedule of sleeping from 10pm till 2am (4 hours), then till 5ish (3 hours), then he wants to get up at 7am to eat again.  Most days of the week I can get him to go back to sleep with me until 9am or so, which gives me lots of rest and helps me to feel great during the day.  Sometimes we even take a nap together in the afternoons, but those only happen a couple days a week if he’s in the right mood.

We’re taking our first overnight trip this week.  Ben has a conference in Lake Tahoe, so we’re leaving Wednesday and staying in a hotel until Friday.  Then we’ll travel down to South Lake Tahoe and stay Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night at a cabin.  I’m a little nervous about all that traveling, but excited at the same time to have a little vacation getaway.  I’m sure it’ll go smoothly!
